Founding Product Designer
The role
You will be the first designer at Layerbase, owning the product surface for a retrieval platform used by engineering teams shipping AI features.
- Own end to end design for the console, from research through shipped interface.
- Partner directly with the founders on product direction and roadmap.
- Build and maintain the design system alongside two front-end engineers.
What we look for
We care far more about judgement and shipped work than years on paper.
- Six or more years designing technical B2B or developer products.
- Comfortable prototyping in code, or working closely with engineers who do.
- Experience designing for AI outputs: latency, uncertainty, and correction flows.
Hiring process
Four steps, usually finished inside two weeks.
- Intro call with the head of product, 30 minutes.
- Portfolio walkthrough with the founding team, 60 minutes.
- Paid design exercise, scoped to one day.
- Final conversation and offer.
